Scottish vacations are amazingly popular today due, in part, to the strength of the $ against the ? making vacations to the United Kingdom very cheap, especially if travelling from from the United States of America. In the following article we introduce 3 delightful visitor attractions in Pitlochry, Blair Castle, the Scottish Hydro Electric Visitor Centre and the Killiecrankie Visitor Centre.

Scottish Hydro Electric Visitor Centre

A power station is an unusual place for a visitor attraction, but this is precisely where you can find the Scottish Hydro Electric Visitor Center. The hydro center is located within the resplendent Pitlochry Power Station, and includes interactive exhibits which describe the history of hydro power in Scotland, from the nineteen forties to the present day. Blair Castle

Blair Castle can be dated as far back as the 13th century and is the ancestral seat of the Earls and Dukes of Atholl. The building of Blair Castle commenced in the year twelve sixtynine, under the guidance of John I Comyn, Lord of Badenoch, a northern acquaintance of the Earl of Atholl. The Earl was away from home, fighting in the Crusade’s, when John I Comyn started construction of the castle on his land. Upon his return, the Earl angrily complained to Alexander III, the king of Scotland about his neighbor, and his lands were returned. Rather than destroying the tower than John I Comyn had constructed, the Earl decided to incorporate the tower into his own castle. A Great Hall and a series of vaulted chambers were incorporated into the castle over the centuries, by subsequent Earls. It was the 2nd Duke of Atholl who, in 1740, decided to renovate the castle as a Georgian Mansion.

Princesa 23 is the name of this bar and is also its address. Located in the trendy Born neighbourhood, this restaurant-bar is the perfect place to chill out after work. To get there, take Metro Line 4 to Jaume I and walk down Calle Princesa. It is almost guaranteed that there will be a guy standing on the corner of the street handing out flyers for the bar. Their drink specials are top-notch: the week I was there, they were running a special that involved free shots just for presenting the flyer and buying a drink. They were also featuring Mojitos and Caipirinhas for 3.50€. This offer starts at 11PM.

The atmosphere is young, and most people come here to party before the party really begins, from about 11pm-2:30am. I would estimate that the clientele is comprised of half tourists, half actual Spaniards. It tends to be a very international crowd and most of the staff speak better English than Spanish. This night spot is just the beginning in Barcelona.

In relation to the atmosphere, this bar offers a Moroccan style couch, table and atmosphere. The Princesa 23 is a concept of lounge bar restaurant where you can meet people. The bar has also quotations on its walls from Gibran Khalil Gibran’s book: The Profit. And if you want to eat something; they offer Mexican and Spanish food for a reasonable price. Actually, you can have delicious “bocadillos” or some wonderful nachos with cheese…They also do a special offer, on the 23rd of the month. On this day, you can have a special menu or free! This menu is available for lunch from 12 to 4.30 PM and also for the dinner from 6 PM to 11PM.

You can also try the “chiringuito” Princesa 23, en la playa de la Barceloneta. The concept is the same but you don’t have the decoration, the couches and everything…and it is also more expensive. However, from 7 PM, they propose Mojitos for 3.50€…Even if the Mojitos is the speciality of Princesa 23, you can always take another cocktail because they have a wide choice. You could have a Daiquiri, a Green Paradise, a Margarita, a Beach babe Beach and much more!

I also recommend you to get a hotel (hotel barcelone) as soon as possible. Actually, Barcelona offers you a huge proposal of accommodation (hotels barcelone), so you just have to take advantage of it and look for it on the web.

• Address: Carrer Princesa 23
• How to get there: Plaza Jaume Metro, then carrer Princesa.
• Opening hours: 11AM- 3AM Friday and Saturday and 11Am-2.30AM from Sunday to Thursday
• Phone: 93 268 86 19

It’s great to take an opportunity for a family vacation. However, what might be a fun trip for some may not serve as enjoyable travel for others. Consider teens or college students on break who want some adventure for a reasonable price.

Well with fuel prices going up along side airfares, student travel deals are becoming harder to reel in. But, don’t despair because there are still some great bargains out there. For some hints and tips on where to find the best travel discounts for students, keep reading.

The International Student Identity Card (ISIC)

The International Student Identity Card is sold at most Travelcuts and STA Travel locations, and it’s your passport to international student travel deals. The ISIC is recognized by global brands like Hostelling International, but also most state parks and transit authorities.

Want to get a student rate on your Eurorail pass? You need an ISIC. Want to save on your admission to the national parks of Kenya? You need an ISIC. Want to get a discounted rate at that Australian hostel? You need an ISIC. It’s an internationally recognized card that can save you hundreds on a backpacking trip. If you have an ISIC, keep an eye out for the ISIC logo, you could access big savings wherever you see it.

Student Airfare Rates

Most airlines no longer offer student rates directly. However, some continue to provide youth fares that are only available through youth-focused or student-focused travel agencies. Check with your on-campus travel agency to see if they have any student specials before you book.

Before you book a student fare, be sure of your travel dates. Student fares are often cheaper because they’re restricted, meaning you either can’t make changes to the flight or you can do so, but only after paying a hefty flight change fee. So, before you book, make sure you won’t have to make schedule changes prior to the date of your departure.

Get a Hostelling International Membership

Hostelling International is a global network of hostels. By purchasing a membership before you head out on travel, you’ll get discounted rates, preferred booking access, lower cost trips and activities, commission-free currency exchange, complimentary basic travel insurance and savings on long-distance international calling.

You don’t have to be a member to stay at an HI hostel

The important thing to remember about student travel deals is they don’t automatically come to you - rather, you have to hunt them out. So, don’t be afraid to ask about special student pricing or preferred rates for students. You never know, that museum, national park or sightseeing tour could wind up cutting you a great deal.

Everyone knows about France’s rich and colourful history with regards to the monarchy. The bloody decapitation in 1793 of King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, infamous for her line “Let them eat cake” and of course, the proclamation of the French revolution in 1789.

Central to the French revolution was the city of Paris. The place where the hunger was epidemic, people were angry, and the symbol of power and wealth of the few, poverty for the masses. The King and Queen were safe in their Palace in Versailles, and as you can imagine, with the power, wealth and well documented greed of Marie Antoinette in particular, Versailles was the height of luxury. So much so in fact, that Versailles has become, over the centuries, the most sumptuously clad ch?teau in the world, absurdly over the top, but a definite must see on a trip to Paris.

This beautiful place is perfect for a weekend trip if you are staying in accommodation in Paris, as it is not far away (roughly an hours drive) and means you can get away from the hustle and bustle of inner city Paris. Ostentatious does not really describe the luxury of the palace and gardens, with beautifully decorated rooms inside, walls embellished with tapestries and gold leaf and the “Hall of Mirrors” – a dazzling 73 metre gallery overlooking the garden, hung with chandeliers. Commissioned in 1678 by Louis XVI and decorated by Le Brun with scenes from the emperor’s reign, it has a staggering 357 mirrors lining its walls.

Another interesting sight to see in Versaille is the Grand Trianon, Petit Trainon and Domaine de Marie-Antionette. This is where in 1678 Hardouin-Mansart built the pink marble Grand Trianon in the north of the park, away from the court. Louis XVI took his mistress and secret second wife here. As well as this, The Petit Trainon, built for Louis XVI’s second mistress, is beautiful and definitely worth seeing. Finally, and perhaps most interestingly is Marie Antoinette’s Domaine. This hide away given as a wedding present to Marie Antoinette by the King in 1774, was where Marie Antoinette escaped from court to play in her little model village and included a chapel, a theatre and a farm and dairy where she pretended to be a humble milkmaid. This is now open to the public and iPod guides are available.

So, make sure you leave your apartment in Paris or hotels in Paris for the day and take a trip to this fantastic place!

With the stresses of work, family schedules, finances and kids, most couples need the occasional break - a romantic retreat to rekindle their romance, invigorate their relationship and give them time to simply relax.

If you’re looking for the perfect romantic getaway that combines worry-free planning, all-inclusive budgeting and romantic sparkle, cruise travel is a great option.

To learn about how to book the best romantic cruise for you and your loved one - regardless of your cruise destination - keep reading for great tips on everything from what to look for in a cruise ship to how to get the best deals for your spouse.

Opt For a Cruise with an Age Limit

The last thing you want on your romantic getaway is to be surrounded by toddlers on their way to a puppet show at the children’s pool. So, book a cruise with an enforced age limit.

Most cruise lines offer cruises that restrict boarding to both individuals 25 and older or married individuals 21 and older. The bulk of these cruises are specifically targeted toward couples and will offer amenities like increased room service, couples’ massages, formal dining and couples’ activities.

If you’re unable to find a cruise with an age limit that’s right for you, most ships offer areas, including pools that are adults-only.

Stay Away From “Singles” Cruises

In contrast to couples’ cruises, some cruise lines offer cruise vacations that are specifically for single travelers or the ’spring break’ party crowd. Unless you want to spend your romantic getaway immersed in loud dance music and terrible pick up lines, you’re going to want to stay away from these options.

Pick a Boat Size That Works For You

A larger boat may have more passengers and a less intimate “feel,” but it also allows for greater anonymity while on-board ship and a larger range of facilities. When choosing a ship, think about what’s important for you in terms of privacy and boat size.

Get the Balcony

As tempting as it may be to book an inside cabin for a discount, know that the space is small and often windowless. If this cruise is a once-in-a-lifetime romantic treat, it’s time to splurge and opt for a cabin with a romantic balcony. When you’re watching the stars go by from bed, you’ll be thankful.

How to Get Great Couples’ Deals

Booking as a couple gives you an advantage. You can often look for “companion” rates that apply to either cabin bookings or air fare to your port. Many cruise lines and some air carriers offer a companion discount for couples traveling together.
